Benjamin Renoux is a visual artist whose interdisciplinary practice explores the blurred boundaries between the real and the virtual, weaving universal themes through intimate narratives in a world with an uncertain future. In his work, the human presence in the form of photographic images is omnipresent and serves as the foundation of his creative process.
Influenced by an adolescence spent in rural France during a time when dating platforms and social networks became part of daily life, he developed a complex relationship with others, blending solitude, digital fantasies, and intangible connections. This isolation deeply shaped his artistic approach, leading him to seek a physical connection with photographic images. For two decades, Renoux has marked his life-sized digital compositions with hand-applied oil glazes, creating a tactile dialogue with the representation of the human figure. While this physical engagement forms the core of his work, the artist also explores these themes through sculpture, performance, and video installations. Since 2019, his analog photography series The Quiet Resistance of Intimacy has celebrated the power of human relationships as an act of resistance against the anxieties of our time.
His work has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe and the United States and is part of several private and public collections, including the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (Paris). In 2018, his sculptural work was featured in 100 Sculptors of Tomorrow (Thames & Hudson). Benjamin Renoux earned an MA in Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins – University of the Arts London in 2014.

Benjamin Renoux est un artiste plasticien dont la pratique interdisciplinaire explore les confusions entre le réel et le virtuel, narrant l’universel par l’intime dans monde au futur incertain. Dans son travail, la présence humaine sous forme d’images photographiques est omniprésente et en constitue le point de départ.
Marqué par une adolescence passée dans une région rurale de France, à une époque où les sites de rencontres et autres réseaux sociaux rentraient dans les quotidiens, il a développé un rapport complexe aux autres, mêlant solitude, fantasmes numériques et connexions immatérielles. Cet isolement a profondément influencé sa démarche artistique, l’amenant à rechercher une physicalité dans l’image photographique. Ainsi, depuis deux décennies, l’artiste marque par les traces de ses mains en glacis de peinture ses compositions numériques aux personnages imprimés grandeur nature. Ce dialogue physique avec la représentation de la figure humaine constituant le cœur de son travail, l’artiste explore aussi ses thématiques dans ses sculptures, performances et installations vidéo. Depuis 2019, dans sa série de photographies argentiques The Quiet Resistance of Intimacy , l’artiste célèbre la puissance des relations humaines comme un acte de résistance face aux crises anxiogènes de notre époque.
Son travail a été présenté dans de nombreuses expositions personnelles et collectives en Europe et aux États-Unis, et figure dans plusieurs collections privées et publiques, dont celle de la Maison Européenne de la Photographie (Paris).
