PAINTED PHOTOGRAPHS - PORTRAITS & STILL LIFES

A selection from 2026

By painting over life-size photographs of his surroundings, Benjamin Renoux questions his own presence and that of things, bodies, spaces and human connections within a reality doubled by the digital realm. He engages physically with images as though he were touching the things themselves. His gestures bring the flat hyperrealism of the digital print into tension with the organic materiality of paint, giving form to the ordinary fragility of his queer everyday life.
